Frequently Asked Questions

What is the required photo size for a PAN card application?

NSDL (Protean) and UTI PAN e-KYC uploads expect square images of approximately 213 × 213 pixels in JPG format for both the applicant's photograph and signature. Compressing to around 20–30 KB keeps you safely inside the tolerance.

Should my PAN signature and photo be in separate files?

Yes — the photograph and the signature are uploaded as two separate images, each meeting the 213 × 213 px square spec. You can run both through this tool sequentially.

My signature scan is on white paper with a shadow. Will it be rejected?

Light shadows usually pass, but strong shadows, crumpled paper or signatures touching the crop border can be flagged. Photograph in even lighting, crop tight using the custom field if needed, and keep the background as white as possible.

Does this tool work for both NSDL and UTI PAN portals?

Yes. Both portals accept square JPEG images in this size range, so one 213 × 213 px JPG shot through this tool will work for either.

Tip: if your form also requires a photo with name & date, use the SSC Photo Maker.
