Frequently Asked Questions

What photo dimensions does UPSC ask for?

UPSC's Civil Services application expects a clear, front-facing colour passport photo in a square format — 350 × 350 pixels is the widely used spec — with a file size between 30 KB and 100 KB, and your name plus the date of photo printed on it.

Is the name and date stamp mandatory for UPSC photos?

UPSC instructs candidates that the name of the candidate and the date the photograph was taken should be clearly legible on the photo. Photos without a legible stamp may be treated as non-compliant, so always use the stamp option.

Can I use an old photo of a few years ago for UPSC?

No. UPSC expects a recent photograph (typically taken within the last few months, definitely after the notification). The printed date-of-photo lets invigilators verify this quickly — so old photos are a real rejection risk.

Does this tool keep my photo private?

Absolutely. The entire process — cropping, resizing, compressing and stamping — happens in your browser with JavaScript. Your photo is never transmitted to or stored on any server.
