Frequently Asked Questions

Why does SSC require my name and date on the photograph?

SSC wants the candidate's name and the date the photograph was taken printed at the bottom so examiners can verify the photo is recent and belongs to you. Photos missing this stamp can be rejected during document verification.

What is the exact photo size required for SSC CGL, CHSL and MTS?

SSC recommends a passport-style colour photo of 350 × 450 pixels, between 20 KB and 50 KB, taken after the exam notification date, with your name and the date of photo (DOP) printed at the bottom.

Is this SSC photo tool free and safe to use?

Yes, it is completely free. All resizing, compression and stamping happen inside your own browser using JavaScript — your photo is never uploaded to any server, so your privacy is fully protected.

My photo is more than 50 KB after compressing. What should I do?

Set the target size slider to 50 KB (or lower) and download again. The tool automatically searches for the best JPEG quality and, if needed, gently reduces the dimensions so the final file always stays within the 20–50 KB range.
